2/16&23/22 7th/8th gr. Old Testament Recap

Also on this night we heard from our friends at Wilderness Canoe Base. Check out their website for amazing opportunities for groups and/or individuals, Wilderness Canoe Base

o   Takeaway – The narrative of the Old Testament is the story of God creating the world and humans to be in relationship with God. Sin/evil enters humankind and those relationships are strained. God works in numerous ways to reconcile/reconnect us to God. Over and over again, God extends grace, guidance, and love. God continues to do so today.

Discussion starters:

-          At this point in your life, how do you answer this question-how did life begin/how does it continue? Does it have an impact on your faith?

-          What do you find helpful about the Old Testament? Unhelpful?

-          When have you experienced something that didn’t make sense to you? Did you relate it to your faith at all?

-          Can you think of a time/s you learned a lesson “the hard way”? This seems to be the way God’s people have lived and learned from the beginning. (And maybe still do today? J)

-          Who are the most important people &/or voices in your life right now? How do they shape & impact your life?

-     What is calling you? Is there anything you feel a nudge, or pull toward, to pursue in life?

Bible talk:

-          Do you have an Old Testament book you’ve found particularly interesting?

-          Can you identify any themes/trends from the Old Testament still present in our day and age?

-          What about creation excites/inspires you today?

-          Have you found a Psalm that resonates with you?

11/17/21 7th & 8th gr. Judges

7 th /8 th gr. Axis Guide Sheet: Judges – I don’t know what Judges are at all.                            11/17/21 Hi Guides & families!   Here is this week's content.  Activity ideas are on the back. Remember Highs & Lows & prayers!   v   LargeGroup (6:30) -           Topic intro o    Judges – Despite all that God had done for His people including giving them commandments to live by, they continually strayed & did wrong (sound like anyone you know?). So God began raising up leaders to help them sort out problems & make wise decisions. Some judges were good at pointing people back to right ways of living & some were, well, not so good. o    Think about this: If you could ask only one person for advice in life, who would it be & ...

12/1/21 7th/8th Grade: Ruth & Esther

  -           Topic intro o    Ruth & Esther, two of the very few named women in the Bible. The stories of these two amazing individuals show us how God’s covenant is big enough for everyone, even those we would consider outsiders or enemies AND that God is at work even if we as humans don’t name or acknowledge God. God’s work is not dependent upon human behavior. o    Take aways: God’s covenant is big enough to include everyone, even outsiders & enemies. God remains in relationship with God’s people, even if God isn’t mentioned by name.   Discussion starters: Begin by reading the introduction page to each book. (Maybe choose one to read in its entirety later on your own!) -           Who are some of the influential women in your life? In our world today?   -           Whose voices and ideas get the ...
