6 th  grade Axis Guide Sheet: Small Catechism & Baptism                                                     Hi Families:   This coming week, Wednseday night, or when it works for you, u se what you can/what is interesting to you. Adapt anything you want!     Takeaways: 1)        Martin Luther (where we get “Lutheran”) wrote the Small Catechism as a foundational Q&A document to instruct families in the core Christian beliefs & practices. Essentially, you have a cheat sheet of the Christian basics from a Lutheran perspective. The Small Catechism is included in your Colaborate Bible (toward the very end).  2)        Through baptism we are named & claimed as God’s own child, we receive God’s gifts of faith & grace. This means that God forgives sin, redeems us from death & the devil, & gives us salvation as  pure gift.     Further readings to check out (use for Faith 5, see below): -            1 Corinthians 15:3-7 o     Key verse – Have kids read & highlig

(i.e. we promise to be respectful of each other by listening to the person that is talking, to participating in conversation and activities, etc.).   -   Caring Conversation o          How much of your family tree/genealogy do you know? Is there anyone you hear a lot of stories about?     o          Who inspires you? o         Even the "New" Testament, is a pretty old collection of writing!  What other “old” things in life come to mind as still being hel

2022/23 Axis Intro & Summary

WHY AXIS ? Axis exists to support you & your family in your relationship with Jesus, walk alongside you as you grow deeper in faith, as well as keep & affirm the baptismal promises. WHAT DOES AXIS DO? Axis is a time for families to question, learn about, listen to, & watch for God’s action in life & in the world. We spend our time exploring & practicing the basics of what it means to be people of faith. A key component of this ministry is equipping families with ideas & practices that can be used at home & on your own to connect faith to everyday life.    Grow Deep:   We look at the stories of God’s relationship with people in the Bible, learn about their context & apply what we can to our lives today. As we read, we seek to find our place in the story & discover our identity in Christ as children of God. We also explore our Lutheran traditions & seek to find out what being “saved by grace through faith” means in our lives.   Re
