7th/8th gr. Review/Recap 1/12/22

7th/8th gr. Axis Guide Sheet: Review/Recap                                                       1/12/22.

This week’s objectives…

1- Highs & lows from break. Share any new year goals/hopes?

2- Recap/summarize what we've covered from the Old Testament so far (Genesis-Kings).

Use the Takeaways & key verses from each topic night. How would you summarize the Old Testament narrative so far? For example I would say,

"God is the source & sustainer of creation. God created humans to be in relationship with God. Humans make that relationship hard, regularly stray/wander from God, face consequences for doing so, & then are guided/brought back into right relationship with God. And the cycle repeats."

+What are the biggest questions/wonderings kids have so far?

     +What has stuck with them?

+What do you want to know/explore the most about the Bible?

3- Check in about mentors. 8th graders hopefully are set, 7th graders will be newer to it as last year we encouraged families to take the mentoring season.

Mentoring will take place Mar. 2 – Apr. 6 & details/outline are on the blog, popyfm.blogspot.com/p/mentoring

Guides/families lease let me know who needs a mentor/needs help connecting with one.

Bible talk:

-          Revisit each book introduction page in Colaborate Bibles (Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Kings, Ruth & Esther). Any favorite books? (Joshua was the first book of the Bible I (Brent) read beginning to end.

Activity ideas:

YouVersion  - It's on my phone. There's a daily verse, loads of reading plans, & of course the entire Bible in a variety of translations. Bonus, you can also create Bible verse images! d365  - A devotion every day, 365 days a year. Broken into 5 easy parts. Echo  - Forget to pray? There's an app for that too. Echo is clean & simple. From their website, "Echo's number one goal is to help people pray. Whether it be to simply keep track of prayer requests, give space to engage with God, or simply help remind people to pray... Echo is a tool to help Christ-followers engage with God." Insight Timer  - Meditation, or mindfulness, is a practice popular around the world. The benefits are far beyond spiritual. Clear your mind, relieve stress, you name it. Personally, I just like to sit in God's presence & be still.

(i.e. personal experience, another person’s story, etc.)   -How does your relationship with God/Jesus (whatever it is like right now) factor into your life? (i.e. do you consider your values in decision making, things you are involved in, etc.)   -Why is it so easy for us to get worked up about something that doesn’t really matter?   7 th /8 th gr. Axis Guide Sheet: Judges – I don’t know what Judges are at all.                            11/17/21 Hi Guides & families!   Here is this week's content.  Activity ideas are on the back. Remember Highs & Lows & prayers!   v   LargeGroup (6:30) -           Topic intro o    Judges – Despite all that God had done for His people including giving them commandments to live by, they continually strayed & did wrong (sound like anyone you know?). So God began raising up leaders to help them sort out problems & make wise decisions. Some judges were good at pointing people back to right ways of living & some were, well, not so good. o    Think about this: If you could ask only one person for advice in life, who would it be & ...
